Events Diary 2010
| April 17th-18th |
Haddon Hall - From the Bakehouse to the Table.
The kitchens, serving areas and hall are brought to life with staff preparing and serving the aristocracy in the early afternoon. At Haddon, the kitchens are of particular historical value and so cooking centres around firing the two bread ovens and cold preparations, rather than use of the hearths. |
| June 12th-13th |
Haddon Hall - In my Lord and Ladies Chambers. This event is based upon the whole process of washing and dressing members of the Tudor aristocracy. The daily routine was one of due ceremony and was fiercely well organised - with different layers of staff involved in producing, maintaining, delivering and accounting for each item of clothing, jewellery and cosmetics.
His lordship will engage in some fencing practice in the garden before again changing clothes. Her ladyship will take exercise in the long gallery. All in all a team of 25 people will be involved in the construction of their fashionable images.
We shall be laundering in the river, starching ruffs, making perfumes, tailoring clothes, washing and dressing his lordship in his apartment, and applying her ladyship's makeup and styling her hair in her suite. |
